Adrian Frost

Adrian Frost

After studying at Jesus College, Cambridge, Adrian joined Deutsche Asset Management (formerly Morgan Grenfell Asset Management) in 1983. He was appointed a director in 1990 and Head of UK Equities in 1996. Here he controlled a team of 40 investment managers and was responsible for some £5bn of funds including the highly rated UK Equity Income Fund. Adrian joined Artemis in December 2001 as Head of UK Equities and took over the management of the Artemis Income Fund in January 2002. He has also managed the Artemis High Income Fund since September 2002.

Adrian Gosden

Adrian Gosden

Adrian Gosden joined the Artemis UK Equity team in October 2003. After graduating with a first from Oxford, Adrian started his investment career with Andersen Consulting as a strategic consultant specialising in the telecoms sector. In 1996 he worked at Fleming Investment Management as an analyst and assistant fund manager on the UK Equities side until 1998 where he joined Société Générale. He co-managed the UK Income Fund and several higher income institutional and charity mandates, managing assets of £500m. Now he co-manages the Artemis Income Fund and High Income Fund with Adrian Frost.

Adrian Paterson

Adrian Paterson

Adrian graduated in 1990 from the University of Durham with a degree in Economics and Politics. He spent a year working as a stockbroker in Paris with Finacor, part of the Credit Lyonnais Group, before joining Jupiter Asset Management in 1993 as a fund manager and latterly, a director. He was part of the UK specialist equity team, running a variety of institutional and retail funds totalling approximately £1bn, including the number one rated Primadonna Investment Trust. Adrian joined Artemis in September 2002 when he took over the responsibility of running the Artemis UK Growth Fund.

Alex Ralph

Alex Ralph

Alex graduated in 2000 from the London School of Economics with a degree in Economics. She then joined Royal & Sun Alliance as a graduate training initially as a credit analyst. In 2002, Alex moved into retail bond fund management with ISIS, specialising in high yield, latterly, after the merger with F&C, this widened to duration and investment grade positioning as well. Alex is a CFA charterholder.

Andy Gray

Andy Gray

After graduating from Loughborough University with a BSc in Banking and Finance, Andy joined Deloitte and Touche as a Trainee Chartered Accountant before moving into Corporate Finance as a Support Analyst. His focus moved to Fund Management in 1998 when he joined Murray Johnstone as Assistant Fund Manager, UK Small Cap. Three years followed at Legg Mason as Fund Manager UK Small Caps. Andy joined Artemis in July 2006  from Scottish Widows Investment Partnership where he was Investment Director responsible for a number of Large Cap Funds and institutional mandates. Andy is co-fund manager of the Artemis New Enterprises Fund and the Artemis VCTs. Additionally, he provides support for John Dodd and Derek Stuart within the small cap and AiM sectors.

Derek Stuart

Derek Stuart

Having received his fund management training within Ivory & Sime, Derek was promoted in 1992 to manage UK Equity Income portfolios, an area responsible for over £1bn of investments. After a successful period managing income portfolios of principally blue chip stocks, he then managed UK small and mid cap portfolios. Derek Stuart has been the fund manager of the Artemis UK Special Situations Fund since its launch in March 2000 and managed the Artemis Income Fund from its launch in June 2000 until January 2002. Derek is a founding member of Artemis.

Jacob de Tusch-Lec

Jacob de Tusch-Lec

Jacob joined Artemis in November 2005 from Merrill Lynch, where he worked as Pan European Equity Strategist within the Global Strategy and Economics Team since 2002. After graduating from the University of Copenhagen with a BA and MSc in Economics, Jacob worked as a financial journalist/editor at a Copenhagen-based publisher of CEE focused business newsletters and economic research. Jacob has also previously held a position of Junior Portfolio Manager at Copenhagen-based BankInvest where he helped manage the CEE/Russia Equity Unit Trust, before graduating with an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University in 2002. He forms part of the Artemis SmartGARP team and manages the Artemis Capital Fund.

James Foster

James Foster

James joined Artemis in April 2005 from F&C Asset Management where he was the Head of Credit and was ultimately responsible for about £15bn of assets. He has 17 years experience of managing bond funds and was one of the first to establish a retail bond fund in the UK. He has managed all the major bond asset classes focusing more recently on discretionary bond portfolios. With Alex Ralph, James manages the Artemis Strategic Bond Fund.

John Dodd

John Dodd

John Dodd is a director and founder member of Artemis. Previous roles include LAS Investment Management, Gulf International Bank in Bahrain and five years at Gartmore from 1988. Prior to setting up Artemis, John was Senior Investment Manager responsible for smaller company investments in the UK at Ivory & Sime. He has managed the Artemis UK Smaller Companies Fund since its launch in April 1998.

John Wood

John Wood

After studying PPE at Oxford, John joined SG Warburg where he worked in various roles before going to Harvard in 1986 to study for an MBA in which he was awarded a High Distinction. Following his studies he became an Associate at McKinsey. He worked at Mercury Asset Management from 1991 and then moved to Foreign & Colonial in 1995; he managed UK Equities for both. Prior to joining Artemis, John spent six years at Deutsche Asset Management where he was Head of UK Equities. John joined Artemis in June 2004 as a UK Institutional fund manager.

Lindsay Whitelaw

Lindsay Whitelaw

After graduating from Aberdeen University, Lindsay qualified as a Chartered Accountant. From 1985, he spent four years with Johnston Press involved in acquisition studies, monitoring of subsidiaries’ performance and assisting in the preparation of the company for flotation. He subsequently moved to 3i, where he identified, negotiated and structured private equity investments. In 1991 he moved to Ivory & Sime, latterly becoming a director of private equity. Lindsay is the group Technology & Biotech specialist and is a founding member of Artemis. He has managed the Artemis New Enterprises Fund since its launch in June 2000.

Mark Niznik

Mark Niznik

Mark began his investment career with Legal & General in 1985, before joining Greig Middleton & Co Limited where he was a private client fund manager. In 1992, he joined Perpetual Plc in the role of small cap fund manager covering the UK part of their Global Smaller Companies Fund; the UK Smaller Companies Core Fund & the Invesco Perpetual UK Smaller Companies Investment Trust. Mark joined Standard Life Investments in 2002, as a small/mid cap fund manager, running their UK Opportunity Fund from its launch in November 2002; and in-house small cap pension funds. Mark joined Artemis in October 2007 and is part of the small cap team and co-fund manager of the Artemis UK Smaller Companies Fund.

Mark Tyndall

Mark Tyndall

After studying PPE at Oxford, Mark joined 3i in London and remained there until he moved to Ivory & Sime in 1984. He worked variously in North American equities and Development Capital before being appointed to the board of Ivory & Sime in 1993, and becoming Head of UK Equities. Mark is a founding member of Artemis and group CEO. He has managed the Artemis Capital Fund since September 2002. Prior to this he managed the Artemis UK Growth Fund since its launch in April 1998.

Peter Saacke

Peter Saacke

Peter joined Artemis in December 2002 from Merrill Lynch, where he worked as Pan European equity strategist and quantitative economist from 1999. Peter holds a BA in Mathematics and Philosophy from the University of Oxford, an MA in Economics from Freiburg University and a PhD in Economics from Hamburg University. In 1998 he became a visiting researcher at the European University Institute in Florence. Peter is a CFA charterholder. He has managed the Artemis European Growth Fund since December 2002 and took over the management of the Artemis Global Growth Fund in January 2004.

Philip Wolstencroft

Philip Wolstencroft

Philip joined Artemis in February 2001 from Merrill Lynch where he was Head of Pan European equity strategy. For the previous seven years he was consistently ranked at the top of investor surveys for European Equity Strategy. Prior to this Philip worked for two years as a fund manager and global strategist at NatWest Investment Management, and for three years as a fund manager with WorldInvest. He holds a BA and MA in Economics. Philip created SmartGARP, the investment process which Artemis uses to help choose stocks. He has managed the Artemis European Growth Fund since its launch in March 2001.

Ruth Keattch

Ruth Keattch

Graduating from St Anne’s College, Oxford with a BA Honours in Mathematics, Ruth spent a number of years working as an analyst before joining Granville Plc in 1991. By 1996 she was appointed Director and Head of Equities, managing a team of 25 research and sales staff, before moving to Ruffer Investment Manager and then Deutsche Asset Management. During this period she held various senior investment management positions focusing on the smaller and mid-sized companies arena. Ruth joined Artemis in September 2008 from Troy Asset Management where she was Director and Head of Research and was reponsible for the launch of the Trojan Capital Fund. As a fund manager, Ruth will be working alongside Derek Stuart, manager of the Artemis Special Situations Fund.

William Littlewood

William Littlewood

William Littlewood graduated from Bristol University with a degree in Economics. He worked at Jupiter Asset Management (“Jupiter”) from 1989 to 2000. Whilst at Jupiter he managed a total of £370m in assets. He is a well known and highly respected investment manager who has primarily worked in the London market and has over 17 years of investment experience. Since 2000 William has been active investing in a private capacity. William joined Artemis in December 2005 to run the Absolute Return Hedge Fund.
