COOKIE POLICY

What are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files or pieces of information that a website transfers to an individual's hard drive for record-keeping purposes. The cookie assigns you an ID, which allows Artemis to recognise you when you return to this website. This makes web-surfing easier for you by saving your preferences while you are at a site. Without a cookie every time you open a new web page the server where that page is stored will treat you like a completely new visitor.

Cookies trace usage patterns through the website. No personal information is collected. We never save passwords in cookies. The use of cookies is an industry standard, and you will find them at most major web sites. By showing how and when guests use the website, cookies help us see which areas are popular and which are not. Many improvements and updates to the site are based on data such as total number of visitors and pages viewed.

How does Artemis use Cookies?

We use the information from cookies to provide services better tailored to our users' needs. For example, we use cookies to track user trends and patterns. This helps us better understand and improve areas of the website that our users find valuable. While both of these activities depend on the use of a "cookie," visitors to the website always have the option of disabling cookies via their browser preferences.

There are two main types of cookie:

  • Transient (or per-session) cookies - only last for the duration of your visit to the site. They are used to recognise you as you move from page to page and are deleted when you leave. Such cookies can also help maintain session integrity and security.
  • Persistent (or permanent) cookies - remain on your machine until they expire or until they’re deleted. This type of cookie is used to store and automatically re-enter log-in information for you so that you do not need to remember and re-key log in details when you re-enter a site.

We make use of both types of cookie in order to maximise the security of our services and to ensure you always get an optimal service from our sites. We do not use cookies to track your use of the internet after leaving our websites, nor do we store any information about you in cookies that others could read and understand.

Web Beacons

Some of our web pages may contain electronic images known as Web Beacons (sometimes known as clear gif's) that allow us to count users who have visited these pages. Web Beacons collect only limited information which including a cookie number, time and date of a page view, and a description of the page on which the Web Beacon resides. These beacons do not carry any personally identifiable information and are only used to track the effectiveness of a particular campaign.

How can I disable cookies?

Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, some parts of the website will not function properly.

For information about how to disable cookies please visit the www.aboutcookies.org (External site, opens in a new window) website.
